Timeless, versatile, and always chic; stripes are one of those patterns that just never date. If you’re looking to bring pattern into your home but don’t want to commit to something you’ll get tired of, stripes are the answer.

I’m stripe-obsessed (no shame here!) and I honestly don’t think there’s a room they don’t work in.

Here are a few of my favourite stripe-inspired finds right now, and some ideas for how you can use them in your own interiors.

Striped armchair with red pillow in a cozy room. Sunlight filters through blinds, highlighting plants and a red side table. Calm mood.

Furniture that works hard

Chairs are a great way to bring stripes into your home. Dunelm has a whole range of striped armchairs at brilliant prices. I’ve got three of their Beatrice striped snuggle chairs that I use for staging and design projects, comfy, affordable, and always a hit.

Or go small but mighty with this Soho pouffe from Cult Furniture – such a cute little piece that adds instant personality.

Light it up with stripes

Let’s start with lighting. A stripy lamp might not be the first thing you think of, but honestly, it’s such a fun way to bring pattern into a room. I treated myself to two of these Raie Fabric Table Lamps from Heals in the red colourway and I already know they’ll be with me for years. They’re striking, playful, and timeless all in one.

Rugs with personality

If you’re feeling a bit braver, this Elsie Wool Rug from La Redoute has my heart. The stripes form a geometric pattern that brings instant energy and dynamism to a space. It’s bold, it’s colourful, and it definitely makes a statement – but in a way that feels stylish rather than faddy.

Cushions with stripes you’ll love forever

Stripes and cushions go hand in hand, and I’ve been using them in designs for a while now. These John Lewis striped frill cushions are a total win – the colour combinations are striking, but the ruffle edge softens everything and makes them just that bit more charming.

And if velvet is more your thing, Anthropologie have nailed it with these bold stripey velvet cushions. Luxe texture, bold colour, and a price that feels like a bargain compared to how they look.

Wallpaper that lasts

People often shy away from wallpaper because they worry about falling out of love with a pattern. This is where stripes are your best friend. They’re chic, versatile, and they just don’t go out of style. Personally, I love a wide stripe like this Magnus Indigo Blue wallpaper from Sandberg.

For something a little more playful, the Croquet Stripe Wallpaper by Cole & Son has an irregular edge that feels modern and fun without being overwhelming.

Fabrics for life

If you’re after fabric by the metre, Ian Mankin’s striped fabrics are iconic in interior design circles. The quality is brilliant for the price, and with 38 colours to choose from, there’s something for everyone. The shade ‘Mist’ is one I return to again and again in my projects.

So, there you have it – proof that stripes really are the ultimate pattern. From cushions to wallpaper to lighting, they bring life, texture, and timeless style to any room.

Which of these stripe-inspired pieces would you love to add to your space? I’d love to hear your fave!
